Sea Stewards Healthy Ocean Initiative
Sea Stewards promotes sound stewardship for sharks, and all marine life. Dedicated to ocean health, Sea Stewards is an integrative organization incorporating multi media, scientific practice, education, outreach and advocacy. Through our shark research with the California Academy of Sciences, we combine conservation with digital media to champion shark protection worldwide. Using our science based films and video we investigate fisheries and seafood consumption patterns to inspire sound ocean stewardship. Our campaigns e.g. the Healthy Oceans Initiative and the San Francisco Shark Sanctuary are directed towards raising awareness on shark conservation, sustainable fisheries, improved water quality and marine ecosystem protection. We advocate policy including the banning of shark finning, and regulating the shark fin trade in California and the Pacific Rim. With our non profit partners and volunteers, our efforts in the San Francisco Bay reach a world audience.
